In 1975 she patented a pleating process that mimicked the Fortuny pleat but hers was done with polyester fabric instead of silk and the pleating stays permanently. Her early pieces and couture line are often stunning and beautiful pieces but later, mass produced, licensed lines produced pieces that are often atrocious. So I am super picky about which Mcfadden's make it to the site. This one is a beauty. It is
