1910s Velvet Emboridered & Applique Panel Dress designer-la-mendola I love the bold polished

I love the bold polished black buttons that close the dress at the top of the bodice and adorn each sleeve

The sleeves are amazing - each is long and lean and ends with a feather detail

The fabric of the body is all a silk jersey and has stretch

The inside lining is starting to shatter along the neck and there are a couple of watermarks and small spots inside

The sleeves puff out above the elbows and cuffs and as it nears the waist it widens and is finished there with a ruffle detailing as well

1910s Velvet Emboridered & Applique Panel Dress designer-la-mendola I love the bold polishedThis is from the 1910s if not before and and is on remarkable condition for its age. Made of a purple dyed cotton velvet it is a stunning testament to the workmanship of this period. The applique panel that runs down the front and is picked up at the back is all backed in a fine tissue silk. This would have been constructed by hand and then placed and sewn by hand onto the base of the dress. It cleverly hides all the closures behind the front panel
