Both pieces are done in a stunning purple silk jersey. The dress is made of a double layer of this fabric and the evening coat a single layer. One of Halston's signatures was how to construct pieces with the absolute minimal seaming and this is a stunning example of how he executed that ideal. The simplicity of the pieces do not disguise the absolute genius behind them.
