Items like this did make their way to the front. I actually saw this same ashtray as a dig up from a German Bunker in Russia. When Germans dug in, they made themselves comfortable. It has some light wear and discoloration. The bottom is marked "C. T. Altwasser Germany 28." Altwasser, Germany became part of Walbrzych, Poland after WWII.
