Chateau Puynard is situated on the right bank of the Gironde, in the commune of Berson, six kilometres north east of Blaye itself. The estate covers roughly 17 hectares, 14 of which are under vine. The soils are a mixture of sand and clay limestone over a bed of limestone; the vines, aged between 9 and 43 years, surround the chateau. The encepagement is 80% Merlot
