Puffin With Sea Campion seaside Once a small fishing andEvery year, I try to arrange to go and see the puffins on Northumberland's Farne Islands. In 2025 I managed two visits, at different stages of the breeding cycle. The puffins make their nests in burrows, nestled amongst the vegetation sea campion, "Good King Henry" and the occasional thistle or dandelion. After the single egg has been laid by the female puffin, the parent birds take turns incubating the egg, and going out to sea to feed themselves.
