there is evidence of minor pitting inside otherwise the shell is in excellent condition

The shell has its original olive-drab paint and texture outside with good coverage inside

As has been suggested this version may have been designed as an early civilian sun helmet and was adopted for military use - and later was exported

When acquired

When acquired the shell was fitted with the outer remnants of a leather liner with spacers and original rivets
