When acquired the shell was painted green with a French type liner system which shows it was used post-war by Thailand (Siam)

The factory stamps under the flare are EB II 1942 (Eveson Bros of Worcester)

M40 #39 The third configuration seems toM40 #39 Shell: The shell is in first class condition and is painted in blue grey with a textured outer. The maker size and lot number stamps are at the rear and read Q66 and S4409. An acceptance stamp has been applied to the inner dome though is little hard to see against the blue grey colour. Liner: The liner is a superb replacement M1931 helmet liner, with a zinc outer band and pig skin leather. The leather is ink marked as size 59 (59cm head size).
