Cascade from Mount Blackmore, Yellowstone 1873 Basin or Devil-FishDuring the early 1870's, William Henry Jackson documented Yellowstone as part of the Hayden Survey expeditions for the USGS. His photography was used, in part, to help lobby Congress to pass the Yellowstone National Park Act of 1872. These important images were taken from 1871 to 1872 and eventually published in the book "Photographs of the Yellowstone National Park and Views of Montana and Wyoming Territories".
